Camping Le Relais: An oase in Marrakech

Le Relais

Camping Le Relais is a campsite located just outside Marrakech, providing an oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. The campsite offers 280 spaces for campers (including long campers up to 10m), caravans, and tents. The pitches are reasonably spacious, with plants and trees between them to enhance privacy. It is also possible to make a reservation for a larger group, and they will allocate a section of the campsite for your exclusive use. Facilities include showers, toilets, and dishwashing stations. The nightly fee for camping is 100 Moroccan Dirhams, but it reduces to 90 Dirhams for stays of 4 nights or more.

The Common Areas

Within the campsite, there are several communal areas for relaxation and socializing. Firstly, there is the campsite’s restaurant, where you can enjoy a variety of meals and drinks. It’s noteworthy that the restaurant serves alcohol, which is not common in many establishments due to the cultural norms of abstaining from alcohol consumption in Muslim countries. The food is delicious, particularly the tajines, and they also offer pizzas and sandwiches.

Next to the restaurant is the swimming pool, equipped with various seating options such as loungers and hammocks. While the pool water may be cool, it provides a refreshing experience in the warm temperatures. Next to the pool, there is a small jacuzzi, which you need to activate yourself using a button.

For children, there is a designated grass area for play, featuring amenities like a trampoline. These communal spaces provide a variety of options for guests to unwind and enjoy their time at the camping site.

Le Relais

Shop and fruit seller

If you prefer to cook your own meals, there is a small store on the campsite offering a selection of basic products. Every morning, they provide fresh rolls and baguettes that are truly delicious! During the day, Omar comes by with his horse and carriage, offering a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. We particularly love the strawberries he has; they are so sweet and quite inexpensive compared to those at home.

Upholsterer

The campsite offers several additional services, one of which is the upholsterer. He can repair things in your camper for you. For instance, we had the torn front seat cover fixed, and it only cost us 15 euros here. The upholsterer is truly a professional and is open to tackling other challenging tasks, such as complete sets of chairs or awnings. There is a wide range of choices for fabrics and colors, and he ensures that the job is finished before you depart.

Mechanic

Even if you encounter issues with your camper, you’re in the right place here. The campsite has an on-site mechanic named Mohammed. He is hired by the camping site, ensuring you can expect good quality service. Since we’ve had many problems with our van, this has been very convenient for us. As he is part of the campsite, you can stay in your spot while he works on the camper. We’ve had a lot of work done by him, and so far, everything is working perfectly.

What’s great about Mohammed is that he precisely shows what is wrong. If there’s a crack somewhere, he first shows it and then explains exactly what needs to be done. Personally, we haven’t had a good experience at a regular garage here, so we highly recommend him. We felt that his hourly rate might be slightly higher than an average garage, but the convenience you get here is definitely worth the money. Moreover, you still end up spending less than in Europe.

Camper rental Morocco

Through Camping Le Relais, it is possible to rent a camper from the company ZigZag to travel through Morocco. There are several different sizes of campers available, with additional options for renting accessories. On the website, you can find more information about the types of campers and the pricing options. Morocco is quite a distance to drive, so renting a camper locally can be a great option if you want to explore Morocco by camper without driving your own camper all the way there.

Dog groomer

Next to the campsite, there is a dog groomer/dog daycare that can take care of your dog during the day while you explore the city. The city can be busy and uncomfortable for dogs, so this could be a good solution for your loyal companion. Additionally, they offer services to wash and groom your dog, which is quite rare in Morocco. The salon is called Toutoumatou Marrakech and is located opposite the campsite.

Cabins at Camping Le Relais

Next to the campsite, there are also cottages and rooms available for rent if you do not have a camper or caravan. There are 6 different cottages starting from €27 per night. The most economical option you can rent is the “Tente Nomade Superieur,” a bungalow tent for 1 to 3 people. Next, you have the “Tente Nomade Deluxe,” the same type of tent but for 1 to 6 people. Additionally, there are rooms for 1 to 3 people in a cottage called the “Chambre Double Kasbah.” There is also a cottage with a tent roof but stone walls, the “Bungalow Familial Africain,” ranging from 1 to 7 people. Finally, there are two suites, the “Suite Superieure” (1 to 4 people), and the “Suite Familiale” (1 to 8 people).

Laundry Service

The campsite offers a laundry service and is 60 Dhs for 6 kilos. The price for washing and drying is 100 Dhs per 6 kilos. Throughout the campsite, there are clotheslines available for hanging your laundry if you prefer not to use the drying machine.

The pitches are beautiful and green, creating a pleasant atmosphere on the site. The campsite features a good restaurant, and you can relax by the pool, which is particularly nice when you want to unwind from the Moroccan hustle and bustle. Additionally, you can easily arrange for a taxi from the reception, making the city easily accessible. We can only say that we had a fantastic time here.
